WHAT IS TPMS?

European legislation requires that all vehicles intended for the carriage of passengers be equipped with a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) as standard from November 1, 2014.

With rare exceptions, tire pressure is monitored by sensors mounted on the tire inflation valves. Each sensor can measure tire pressure, temperature, and movement. The sensors are powered by a small lithium battery and communicate with the control unit via radio.

Working with TPMS systems can be particularly complex because there is no standard yet regulating their shape, location, or radio frequency. Therefore, a technically advanced tool is essential for effective TPMS maintenance.

The TPS tire pressure monitoring system allows you to check the condition of sensors and replace them if necessary. The tool’s built-in database provides a list of compatible spare parts for each selected vehicle. TEXA’s extensive database also provides other valuable information, including the correct procedures for rotating tires.

If a sensor is replaced with a universal spare part, the wireless TPS tool can even program the new sensor to assign it the same identification code as the old one and pair it with the vehicle’s receiver or control unit.
