We disable the water pump programmatically using the “Truck Tools” program on your vehicle
The coolant pump of the two-stage clutch can operate in two modes. At high speed, the coolant pump impeller is driven directly from the crankshaft via a poly V-belt. Low speed impeller speed is approximately 50% of high speed.

Control:
Depending on the cooling requirements of the engine or vehicle, the ECU The PCI activates the coolant pump solenoid and changes the impeller speed:
- solenoid on, pump runs at high speed;
- solenoid off, pump runs at low speed.
When power is lost, the coolant pump’s safe speed is low speed.
If the coolant pump with a dual-stage clutch is detected to be stalled, a fault is logged, which is used to disable the EGR system. The PCI closes the EGR valve and reduces fuel flow to prevent engine damage.
