Professional HEX file editor for PCI and DMCI units of DAF trucks (up to 2018)
Bin Daf Editor is a specialized software for analyzing and editing HEX files of PCI and DMCI electronic control units installed on DAF trucks with PACCAR MX11 and MX13 engines .
This program is designed for specialists in commercial vehicle diagnostics, repair, and chip tuning. It automatically analyzes the scanned HEX file, identifies existing modifications, disables necessary systems, modifies engine performance parameters, clears selected diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and saves the resulting file for subsequent writing to the ECU.
Unlike manually editing firmware in HEX editors or WinOLS, the program displays most available parameters in a user-friendly graphical interface, significantly speeding up work and reducing the likelihood of errors.
Main features of the program
After opening a HEX file, Bin Daf Editor automatically analyzes its contents and displays the current state of the main engine systems.
This is especially useful when working with vehicles that have already had their firmware modified. In just a few seconds, you can determine:
- which systems are already disabled;
- which functions continue to work;
- what changes have been partially implemented;
- what parameters were changed previously;
- Which DTCs have already been cleared.
This approach significantly simplifies the diagnostics of other firmware versions and allows you to quickly assess the state of the control unit software.
Supported functions
Working with the AdBlue (SCR) system
The program supports editing the SCR system configuration for various engine modifications:
- MX13 AdBlue
- MX13 AdBlue EU
- MX11 AdBlue
- MX11 AdBlue EU
It is possible to configure system parameters, change the configuration and display the current status.
Management of environmental and service systems
Bin Daf Editor allows you to change the state of various sensors and actuators of the engine.
Supported:
- EGR — exhaust gas recirculation valve.
- LAMBDA — oxygen sensor / lambda probe (with the possibility of flexible adjustment, for example, setting the value to 80% or completely OFF).
- BPV — exhaust brake valve.
- HUMIDITY is an air humidity sensor.
- PTUR — turbine pressure and temperature sensors.
- MX BRAKE — retarder control.
- PRE-INJECTION — preliminary fuel injection.
- PUMP / VENT — control of fuel pumps and ventilation.
All changes are made directly in the HEX file without the need to manually search for the corresponding addresses.
Clearing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
The built-in editor allows you to work with individual fault codes.
Available:
- search for errors by number;
- view current status;
- selective disabling of required codes;
- saving changes directly to the firmware.
This significantly speeds up file preparation and eliminates the need to manually search for error masks.
Changing speed limits
The program automatically detects speed limit parameters and allows you to change:
- CC (Cruise Control) — speed limitation of the cruise control system.
- VMAX is the maximum design speed of the vehicle.
- CUST — user (client) speed limit.
Editing is performed via a graphical interface without manually searching for maps in the HEX file.
Additional features
The following service options are also available:
- IMMO Off — quick and correct disabling of the standard immobilizer.
- PROTECT — configuration or disabling of built-in engine protection algorithms.
- TIMER — setting/disabling the engine idle timer.
- AT (ZF) — adaptation and synchronization of parameters for ZF automatic transmissions.
- DPF LIM & LIMIT — removing restrictions on the particulate filter and torque.
- BBM & EST 52 – setting up parameters of the body module and retarder.
Availability of functions depends on the specific version of the control unit software.
Automatic checking of existing changes
Today, many DAF trucks already have modified software.
Very often, a car arrives for repair after several previous interventions, and it is quite difficult to manually determine what changes have already been made.
Bin Daf Editor automatically analyzes the read HEX file and displays the current state of supported systems. This allows specialists to immediately see:
- what features are already disabled;
- what changes were made previously;
- what parameters differ from the factory ones;
- which systems require additional verification.
This is especially convenient when fixing previously modified firmware.
How the program works
The work takes only a few minutes.
Step 1 – Reading the firmware
Read the original HEX file from the PCI or DMCI block using any compatible programmer.
Step 2 – Opening the file
Open the read file in Bin Daf Editor .
Step 3 – Analysis
The program will automatically analyze the firmware and display the current state of supported systems.
Step 4 – Editing
Change the required parameters.
If necessary, you can restore the original values using the Recovery function .
Step 5 – Saving
Save the modified HEX file and write it back to the control unit.
